Matching Trips
What made you decide to take a matching trip to LA?
Melissa : When Mei Ling first suggested a matching trip in LA I was very apprehensive.
However, I do trust her totally, so then I thought "Why not take advantage of her worldwide connections?! What have I got to lose? Treat it like a fun holiday!" We spend far too much time working and too little in finding a life partner anyway….so off I went.

How long were you there? Was the trip in your opinion, too long? too short? just right?
Betty: I was there for 10 days. In my opinion this was just right. It gives you a chance to meet the guys initially and then have 2nd & even 3rd dates with the guys you like and would like to get to know better.
How was your trip overall? Was this experience more or less than your expectation?
Denise: I had a really wonderful trip & it totally exceeded all my expectations. Mei Ling was always in touch and reachable throughout the entire trip. It was all very carefully planned & well organized with the matchmaker in LA. I just needed to turn up & have fun on my dates!
Have you been to the USA before? do you know LA well? and basically like Americans?
Gail : I have been to New York before, but not LA. HK Matchmakers provided me with everything I needed from hotel recommendations, visa advice, information about the local area to the local Starbucks! What to do what not to do…the briefing was several pages of A4 …so I was very well equipped !
I didn't really have an opinion about American's prior to my trip. They were not a nationality that I would prefer to go for in particular. However, after the trip I have a very high opinion of guys from LA.
How would you compare men in LA to men in HK?
Serena: HK guys are spoiled for choice, so the majority can just continue to "play" in HK and not commit to a long term relationship. Its the opposite over there - women in LA are obsessed with money & power and the guys tell me they are just so happy to meet a normal genuine lady who is not obsessed with all the fame & money. LA guys are very sweet and down to earth, but more importantly ready to commit. The amount of thought and planning that go into each date amazed me. It makes you realize this is how a lady should be treated and HK guys have no idea how to date!
What was the toughest part about the trip?
Juliana: The toughest part of the trip was letting down the ones that you didn't have any chemistry with. They were lovely guys though, so I always said we would stay friends.
What would you have done differently to make it better next time?
Gail: I wouldn't have done anything differently apart from packing less dresses! I only wore half of what i brought along. Stick to the dating outfits you look & feel good in. Wear comfortable high heels - guys there like to take a walk after dinner.
Knowing what you know now, would you do it again? or recommend this to anyone?
Melissa: I would absolutely do it again & recommend it to anyone who is willing to do a long distance relationship. The trip was so much fun and I came away from the trip with 4 guys that I was interested in and will continue to get to know better.
